The story

Tej Johal, a lover of optometry from a young age, qualified as an optician in 2001. With an eye for designer eyewear, and years working in small boutiques and luxury stores Harrods and Selfridges, he spotted a gap in the market. In 2009, Tej launched Fashion Eyewear, an online marketplace that combines luxury brands with leading optical expertise.

Why we got involved

Fashion Eyewear presents a number of exciting opportunities in a fast growing market. Our experience in creating and launching new brands, combined with Fashion Eyewear’s optical expertise and customer base is a unique opportunity for growth.

How we’ve helped

Broody joined forces with Fashion Eyewear at a time when it was already beginning to establish itself in the market. There were a number of areas for us to work on to create a solid platform for future growth. This included adding strategic and commercial leadership to the team, helping with organisational planning and bringing onboard a CFO and CDO/CTO from our network. Other key projects have included developing a site wide pricing strategy and user experience optimisation. Since our involvement, annual revenue has tripled.

In 2020 we organised a fundraising round to fuel further growth. Work is underway to launch a number of new brands and rebrand Fashion Eyewear.
